Congratulations to the new open water diver
Want to congratulate Mike Hager on passing the open water scuba course. Not bad for a man that runs 4 miles a day, has run marathons and is a young 74 years old. Now for the weather to change and do some diving.

Course location found
I found my dive location. I have spoken to the owner of the resort on Quoin Island, which is not used as a resort, and said he would have us ferried over to the Island and I have private use of his 7ft pool and the pier to do the diving off. The big plus is the owner has created a Turtle rehabilitation retreat dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of Central Queensland's ill and injured marine turtles, they are the only dedicated facility in the Gladstone region. Contact them for any turtle concerns 0408 431 304.

Finally
My ABN number has finally been given to me. I can now start teaching. Just have to wait for the contract with the waterboard and my first student.

Lake Awoonga or Facing Island
Paid my visit up to Awoonga lake and had to talk to the Gladstone Waterboard to get permission to teach there. I have received the go ahead from them and now am waiting for my ABN number to be able to run Oceanview Diving. The visibility is not prime but it is a choice of Awoonga for the open water dives or off of Facing Island. Sometimes it is nice to have choices.

Location
Now looking for a location to teach my confined and open water classes. The problem I have come across in Gladstone is there is no pools deep enough to do the confined water. 1.7m is the deepest I have found. So this weekend I will be checking out Lake Awonga to do both. Pool like conditions and it will save the students money for the open water. Actually save them around $150 to get over to Facing Island. Will update when I check on the lake.

The start of a dive shop in Gladstone, Queensland
Gladstone has its first dive company in 5 years. Attila, the owner of Oceanview Diving, has been in the dive Industry since 1994. He has worked in Canada, the Cayman Islands, Germany and now Gladstone, Queensland Australia. He has experience from being a boat captain, working with large groups to teaching 100s of dive courses. Born in Canada Attila grew up loving water so the logical direction for him was to become a Scuba Diving Instructor. If you are interested in learning to dive then do not hesitate to contact him. Why wait! Here is your chance to enoy the Great Barrier Reef.
